SPANTZO was founded on the belief that visual culture has been hijacked, in a monopolistic fashion, by entities that restrict independent expression. SPANTZO's mission is to widen the boundaries of expressible thought through the championing of a unique roster of bold and innovative international artists. In so doing, we seek to establish the line separating the permissible from the prohibited.
Nathaniel Garcia founded SPANTZO in 2017 after receiving an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts. He has worked as a curator and teaching artist at academies, institutions, and galleries in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and New York. He is a doctoral candidate at Teachers College, Columbia University in Art & Art Education and a Professor of Art at SUNY.
